Hello. I like Vila and Gan, especially their friendship with each other, but also their friendships with other crew members. I do like Avon a lot too! I like all the seasons of Blake's 7, though possibly the first three more than the last one (though Soolin is cool and I'm glad we got to meet her). Sometimes I wish Gan hadn't been killed when he was, but then again, I'm not sure he would have fit in with Tarrant and Dayna, or with Avon being in charge, and the writers, I think, often didn't know what to do with him. Which makes me sad. But at least I have Vila and Avon for all the seasons!

I'm not sure yet how much I'll post here. I'm still checking the site out. Hopefully I'll post more later, and track down some B7 comms to join. Perhaps some fans will like me too?

Hi there! There are some B7 comms but they're pretty much dead due to having been started on LJ before the huge exodus from there. I don't post much here, but I do post when I have a new story.

There's a lot of B7 fiction on Archive of our Own, and you can filter for stories that especially appeal.

Welcome to the fandom! When did you get into B7? FOr me it was when they showed it here in reruns over 10 years ago and I just loved the dialogue and characters - and Vila most of all. Which is odd given that aliens and androids are usually my faves.

I've been in and out of the fandom since the beginning, but only got back in again recently. Someone gave me a link to the episodes on YouTube, and well, that was that! Vila is certainly a fav of mine, along with the often overlooked Gan (and especially their friendship).

I've read some of your fanfic and I love your Vila POV! Are you Nicola Mody? If so, then I read loads before you became vilakins as well!

I've not been to AO3 for a couple of months, so will have to pop over there again! I'm going to make my way back through the comms I've found on here, as it's quite possible I've not read most of that fic. I seem to go through manic 'must read everything' mode into less manic 'read the occasional fic' mode at the moment.

EDIT: I see from you fic page that you are Nicola Mody!! I love your Vila and Gan story 'A Good Team'! Absolutely adore it! And Vila's emails to his mum, lol!! :D

Thank you! I was Vilakins from the start as it was the first name I tried on Gmail that wasn't taken, and as it's never taken, I use it a lot of places. On AO3 I use it was my author name for anything that first appeared on LJ or DW, though since I post most of it in both places anyway, I suppose that's confusing now.

Ha, I remember the manic read-all-the-fics thing from when I first became a fan. Recently I've found some old stories from the days of zines appearing on AO3 which is great. BTW sallymn with the icons is a B7 writer from well before me and is well worth checking out on AO3.

I had a Vila and Gan icon I made a while back but I weaned a lot out when I needed space for other fandoms.

I shall certainly be checking sallymn's fic! I have read a few of hers and like them too!

Unfortunately, I gave my fanzines away many years ago, thinking I was done with this fandom. Oh how wrong I was!! If only I could go back and stop myself doing that!! I had some rare zines as well *sigh* There was one I remember vividly, a crossover with Knightrider, where S4 B7 go back in time and Vila goes down to Earth, gets knocked over by KITT, meets the Knightrider team, gets kidnapped by a baddie with Bonnie (I think), gets shot by a baddie, but helps save the day in the end! I've never been able to find it online. Although Gan is best, Vila is very close behind in my affections, and this fic ticked all my h/c boxes too!! :D

I'm also quite fond of Avon, though prefer him in S1-3 than in S4.

I don't think Sally wrote that many fics, but they're all very good.

I still haven't read all my zines as I know I won't be getting any more. I don't remember that KITT one (I once sat in KITT!) and it's a pity so many are lost. Sometimes the authors digitise their stories and put them online like Mireille has been doing recently, but I think her stories are all set in S4 or after. Also, the stories from Hermit are now on AO3.

I don't like S4 either and really dislike S4 Avon. I can make up reasons for his behaviour but that only explains, it doesn't excuse. I do enjoy writing Vila and Avon banter (S1-S3 of course) because I can just hear them in my head, and that means the others don't get as much screen time. I really like Gan too, but they gave him so few lines, he doesn't have the distinctive speech patterns of the others - but oddly enough, I can hear his voice with Vila. I do think they were friends.

There are some S4 episodes that I enjoy. Scratch that, there are two that I quite like - Games and Orbit.

In Games, Vila gets to rescue Tarrant and Dayna, and I love how he sweet talks the computer Gambit too! Though I don't like how he kills that guard that is passing by.

Orbit is a love-hate relationship. As someone who likes angst, I love that aspect of it (and don't you just want to hug Vila!), but as someone who hates friends/sort-of-friends being torn apart by something, I hate that Avon betrays Vila's trust, whilst at the same time accepting that Vila's way would have led to both their deaths. So, mixed emotions, and yet when I do watch it I enjoy it. Weird.

But no, the first three seasons are my preferred stomping ground. Weirdly, one of my fav S3 is Moloch, mainly because of Vila and Servalan's interaction! And Volcano, because Vila is smart in it at one point (oh, and his comments about Avon and the volcano make me smile, plus that fact he seems completely oblivious to the fact he is annoying Cally - or pretending to be oblivious perhaps - in that scene)!

But of course, for Gan, it's S1 and the first half of S2. It's such a pity the writers didn't seem to know what to do with him, but I can at least enjoy what there is and envision more in my mind!

You're right about Games: not a bad ep, though Stratford Johns stuffed up his last lines making the end nonsense. Those Scorpio clip guns had a stun setting, and did you notice that Vila shut his eyes when he fired - and that the guard wasn't there later? In my fanon (I think I put it in Vila's Emails) he was practising but still couldn't look, and the guard woke up and left.

Volcano is another weird one, but Vila's great in it. He'll step up and act when no one else is able to, but I admit that he'll leave it to them if he can. :-)

You've acquired some great icons!

I'd forgotten about that bit in your email stories, which just means I'm clearly overdue a re-read, lol!! But that makes much more sense now - and also tells me I probably ought to watch the episode again (or at least, that bit)!!

And yeah, I love that he will step up when there's no one else to do it! He does it in Terminal too, stopping the auto-repairs that can't keep up with the damage to prioritise the computers trying to find a solution.

He's quite capable, when he has to be, but prefers to let others do the hard work/make decisions otherwise! This might make him smarter than the others, lol! :D

EDIT: Sallymn's icons are gorgeous! One day I may get a paid account, and then, well, I can stuff it full of icons!! :D

In the meantime you could get more icons and rotate them round the slots you have. :-)

Oh, I think he is!! Most definitely!! I also think Gan is not always as stupid as many fans seem to think, and when he has problems, I'm blaming them on the limiter. My head canon is that he was a (never mentioned but surely must surely exist?) gamma grade, but the limiter adversely affects him sometimes. Of course, Vila's grading I'm sure has nothing to do with intellect, unless it's that he's too smart to become a higher grade and have to, you know, that terrible four letter word... work! :D

I have a few waiting to rotate in/out, and there are few I might rotate out for Gan, Vila and Avon icons if I find I don't use the ones of Blake, Tarrant, Jenna etc all that much! :D
